We saw an exhibition at the Art Institute today. Daguerrotypes. I was wondering how to make them. They looked awesome: pictures from 1840s and 1850s and that were more exact than the photographs. They seemed far more interesting than the rest of the arts in the museum; Manet, Monet, Velazquez, unknown number of the extremely pale, astronimically cancer-type bodies, pale pale pale, with tons of cellulite and lunatic face and expressions in too many reneissance and later paintings. (I have to admit= we skipped the Asian and the World parts of the permanent exhibition: they seem interesting enough for another 1 or 2 days exbihition. What is amazing though - they had no daguerrotype or daguerrotypian porn.

It seemed like the autumn had already started. It was warm till a friend could not stand it anymore. I joked the autumn would start as soon as he'd got the fan. He got the fan, and the day after it was a high temperature 70+ f. I had already decided to never joke with weather: years ago I said it would start to rain 4th of July. It started: there were less than 4 rainless days in the whole July- but where I was, n ot where my friends were. The whole country was flooded, and I was there, nearly alone, in a country of which I did not speak the language, in the middle of my crisises, when the country was in the middle of natural disasters and economical unbalance... I decided that was enough: one prediction and that was far too accurate. I should have kept my mouth shut 10 days ago.
