2004-09-16 - 9:52 p.m. How to identify a zombie process and do something with it (OS X), as 'top' in terminal, or process viewer, do not show it: ps aux | grep Z then kill it. Zombie process is a result of a process that is dead already, but that has not died completely. 'Top' does identify it, nor does process viewer. So the zombie can have a valid process id. Kill it once you know which process it is, or restart and it will be gone. No harm, unless a lot of zombies are running. They are often a result of bad programming. M$ as an example. |
