Yesterday we did something htat I had wanted to do for a long time, at least for the past 2 months. That is taking apart my 12" revision B Powerbook.

It took maybe 1,5 hours to dismantle it totally, and bring everything back together, to a working condition obviously. It wasn't taken apart only for the sake of taking it apart, more for upgrading the parts. So now it has a 80 GB harddrive (before it had 40 GB), and a superdrive (before it was a combo), and 1,25 GB RAM (before had 512 MB, this of course I could have changed myself in 3 minutes, provided I had the 1 GB piece of RAM on my paws ..

The guts of the Powerbook looked pretty interesting. Nice to know what is where, and how stuff works. As said, the 'Book is back and fully working .. before going to sleep, I installed 10.3.5 in it (from the DVD) and some programs as well .. today will be time for some more customization of it (can't wait to be back home do start to play with the Powerbook again).

Of course we took some pictures of the whole process. Powerbook 12" takeapart pictures. Enjoy.

And don't DIY home unless you have the right tools and service manuals etc available ...

(And yes, I want to open a 15" and 17" next).
